New York Street Photography (Color)

by prestonutley on September 28, 2010

I have a confession to make. I am color blind. I don’t like to tell people this for two reasons. The first reason is that whenever some one finds out about it we always have to play the “what color is this?” game. The second is that quite honestly it makes me feel a little stupid I know there is nothing I can do about it but I can’t help but think I’m missing out on what the rest of the world is seeing. I absolutely love color (the ones that I can see). While it makes my job of being a photographer a bit of a challenge when it comes to color correction I think I hide my “disability” pretty well…but maybe I’m just in denial. Okay enough confessing…onto photos…New York. I know I’ve said it already but I love this town. I visited for the very first time this August and wandered the streets making pictures of things I saw. The people could care less about a photographer snapping away. Everyone is in their own world with their own agenda. Talking on cell phones, listening to their ipods, ignoring me, hustling to their next destination. I feel like only scratched the surface of the potential this place has to offer a photographer like me, and I look forward to the next opportunity to visit.

Dude, I love it. This style is totally you. Also, your colors are 100% spot on. I wish I could keep my colors more lifelike.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, together form our creative fingerprint God gave us. You’ve done great with your talent and I wouldn’t look back. Nice timing and composition on this set of personal work. And killer color to boot.

awesome stuff…..the older couple crossing Madison Ave., the street sweeper, the security guard in the second shot and the girls at the carnival are definitely among my favorites. It’s all very nice and refreshing.
